We have no hand in missing 400 tricycles… Kandahar boys refutes media reports

Kandahar boys, a pro-NPP youth group based in the northern regional capital, Tamale has refuted media reports that they confessed of being behind the missing of the 400 tricycles.

Earlier this year, they were series of media reports about the missing of 400 hundred tricycles at the office of the Northern Development Authority in Tamale.

Several people have been accused of being behind the missing of the tricycles including the Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Salifu Saeed, the NPP Northern regional chairman, Mohammed Batima Samba and the Kandahar boys who are affiliated to the governing New Patriotic Party.

But reacting to the claims, the Acting General Secretary for Kandahar boys, Mohammed Umar Faruk in an interaction with Dj Tell on the Bugum Beini Drive on Radio Tamale on Wednesday 5th February, 2020 refuted the allegations and added that they don’t even know the whereabouts of those tricycles.

He challenged anyone with evidence that implicate them of stealing the tricycles to go to court and also threatened to sue the journalist who published the story which aligned them to the missing tricycles.

Responding to a question about why the name Kandahar boys is always heard in the news for bad reasons, the Acting General Secretary, disclosed that people are using their name to perpetuate crime with the intention of gaining fame.

Mr. Mohammed Umar Faruk clarified that they are always different from how the public perceived them to be and also admitted that several people have spewed lies against them which has dented their image and attracted hatred and jealousy from the general public and even some NPP faithfuls against them.

The Secretary further disclosed that the Kandahar youth group is made up of sixty-four (64) members which comprises a medical doctor, professional teachers and several other professionals working in different fields.

He further revealed that the Kandahar boys has been disbanded as NPP vigilante group and their name now changed to “Suglo M bori Buni Youth Association”.

They are now into events organisation and provision of security at events.
