The National Youth Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo has alleged that the president of the Republic, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has stolen a whopping $40,000,000. 00 to build a hotel to replace his father’s house which he sold to campaign for his presidential ambition.
George Opare Addo said this following accusations by some Ghanaians that the NPP government has granted a tax waiver to the tune of $24,000,000 to a businessman identified as Dr. Kwame Nyantakyi Owusu to build a hotel, who is said to be an appointee of President Akufo-Addo on the governing Board of the Bank of Ghana and an in-law of the President by dint of the fact that they are both married to two blood sisters.
Commenting on the issue, the NDC youth organizer alleged that the hotel belongs to the president which he wants to replace his father’s house he sold to campaign.
“We are not angry enough as a people. Parliament has failed us. Platinum properties Ltd does not deserve $24,000,000 of our taxes. We must rise and protect our country from this stealing brigade. That hotel is for Akufo Addo and it is to replace his father’s own that he sold to campaign”. George Opare Addo alleged.
Justifying his claims on his Facebook page, George Opare alleged that “Akufo Addo first took $16,000,000 from our infrastructure fund for this hotel and now is giving it a tax waiver of $24,000,000 . That is a total of $40,000,000 . When you convert it into cedis you are talking of over two hundred and twenty four million cedis (224,000,000). “
George Opare Addo is of the view that the money can be use to build over ten(10) of the E-Block classrooms initiated former president to end the double track and even build an equivalent of the Ridge hospital in Accra.
He further stated that the money is more than enough to fix the drains in Accra and possibly stop the perennial flooding of Accra.
“This whole amount is what the Akufo Addo is taking from you and I to build a hotel for his family. Ghanaians must rise up and speak out.
We must not allow this to happen”. He added.
