Coronavirus: UEW bans handshakes and hugs among students and staff

As part of measures to prevent the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus in the country, management of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) has banned its staff and students from body contacts, such as handshakes and hugs.

The registrar of the university, Surv. Paul Osei Barima Esq in a statement on Thursday, 12th March, 2020 outlined the measures by management of the university to prevent the outbreak of the epidemic in the university community, which is in line with the call by the president, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo for all citizens of the country to take precautionary measures against the outbreak of disease.

The management has also suspended the following activities ;

1. All non-academic gatherings such as Awards Nights, Dinners and other outdoor events in the university

2. All planned academic and non-academic excursions outside the university.

3. All international travels by members of the University community.

Management of the university has also formed a task force to regularly monitor the implementation of the precautionary measures and also give updates to the management.
