Atamafowiesi Bonja II, Omanhene of chonke traditional area in Krachi Nchumuru District of the Oti region, has directed funerals to be postponed in compliance with the directives of president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to stop the spread of corona-virus in the country.
He said in line with the precautionary measures against the corona virus he had suspended funerals to ensure strict adherence on public activities.
According to him, the elders had met with the subchiefs and ordered all social activities to be suspended and revealed that they will deal with any person who would go contrary to the directives by the president.
He told the Ghfactsonline.com reporter, Owusu Job that, all his divisional chiefs in Chonke Traditional Area has been charged to send the message in their respective areas to be extra vigilant on the pandemic disease.
The Paramount chief added that people of Chonke Traditional Area celebrate funerals annually and this is the Month but however on measures to curb the coronavirus in the district and the country at large he banned all gatherings until further notice.
The Paramount chief pleaded with Nana Owusu Yeboa, Oti regional minister and Ghana Police Service to step up patrols and adequate security for the people in Chonke Traditional Area.
