Ahwiaa Market Project 85% Complete – MCE

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwabre East, Hon. Joseph Amankwah, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Ahwiaa Market, a significant infrastructure project aimed at transforming local commerce.

The Ahwiaa Market, a modern facility under construction in two phases, is nearing completion. Phase one was finalized under the previous administration, while phase two was continued to 85% completion under current administration

The market will feature comprehensive amenities, including taxi stations, a police station, toilet facilities, and schools, to serve as a bustling hub for traders and residents.

The inspection took place on September 16, 2025, with the MCE announcing that the market will be fully operational within a few weeks.The project is located in Ahwiaa, within the Kwabre East Municipality, designed to centralize and enhance market activities in the region.

Financed by the World Bank, the Ahwiaa Market aims to provide a safer, more organized trading environment, eliminating roadside vending and boosting economic activity.

Hon. Amankwah assured residents that the transition for marketers to the new facility will be seamless, with traders, including taxi drivers, ready to relocate.

He emphasized that the comprehensive facilities will leave no excuse for roadside trading once the market is commissioned.

The MCE urged residents to adopt strict safety measures to prevent market fires, which could jeopardize both government efforts and traders’ livelihoods.

The MCE’s visit highlights the government’s commitment to completing any stalled project swiftly and ensuring its success as a cornerstone of economic growth in Kwabre East.
