The Minister for Youth and Sports has met with members of the newly constituted Boxing Normalisation Committee ahead of their official inauguration on Monday, September 29, 2025.
The Committee’s establishment follows the tragic boxing incident of March 28, 2025, which prompted a full-scale investigation into challenges facing professional boxing in Ghana. A 100-page report, chaired by respected statesman Rtd. Amarkai Amarteifio, provided a comprehensive set of recommendations, which have since informed a government white paper on reform.

According to the Minister, the normalisation process goes beyond administrative restructuring. It seeks to restore public trust, strengthen safety standards, and align Ghanaian boxing with modern global benchmarks.
The Minister expressed confidence in the calibre of persons selected for the Committee and assured them of the full backing of the Ministry and Government. He emphasized that the reforms are crucial to protect young athletes who risk their lives for the sport and to safeguard boxing’s place as a defining part of Ghana’s national identity.
