A devastaing fire has razed an 8 Bedroom house and several shops in Asante Agona in the Sekyere South District, destroying properties worth of millions of Ghana Cedis and leaving residents displaced.
The blaze, which reportedly started around midnight, spread rapidly before firefighters arrived to contain it, completely razing dozens of shops and leaving victims in despair.

“It was around midnight when I heard a loud noise, I went out to check only to find out my window is already in flames, I’ve lost everything including Gh8000, I withdrew from the Bank for my ward School Fees. I’ve lost all what I acquired from my entire work life as a pensioner”.

An eyewitness who lives nearby recounted how the fire began and praised the efforts of the Ghana National Fire Service to prevent further spread.
“By the time the fire service came in, the fire had already consumed most of the shops. They did their best to stop it from spreading further to other houses, but the damage had already been done,” he explained.
