Ejurahene Barima Osei Hwedie II Joins Prisons DG in Sod-Cutting for Ejura Officers’ Quarters

The Ejurahene, Barima Osei Hwedie II, together with the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.), has cut sod for the construction of officers’ accommodation at the Ejura Camp Prison.

The project is aimed at reducing the stress prison officers go through by travelling long distances to render their services, while also improving security and support for the people of Ejura Sekyedumase.
The ceremony took place at the forecourt of the Ejura Camp Prison.

Speaking at the event, the Ejurahene, Barima Osei Hwedie II, outlined the processes and hardships encountered before reaching this stage. He noted that despite the challenges, the timing was right to initiate the project. He assured the Ghana Prisons Service of his readiness to provide all necessary support and documentation to help improve development in the Ejura traditional area.

Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (Esq.), expressed her profound gratitude to the Ejurahene and his elders for their support. She stressed the need to educate the public on avoiding crime and understanding the penalties associated with criminal activities.

She further explained that the accommodation would enable officers to work more effectively and monitor inmates efficiently, with administrative coordination from the Service headquarters in Accra.

She also pledged the Ghana Prisons Service’s continuous support to the Ejurahene and the people of Ejura.
The sod-cutting ceremony marked another significant step towards strengthening prison administration and improving the welfare of officers in the Ejura municipality.
