A loan defaulter, identified as Alfred Ofosu, has alleged that he was physically assaulted by individuals believed to be workers of Bills Credit after failing to repay a loan of GHS 10,000 at Akweley in Kasoa.
According to Mr. Ofosu, he experienced financial difficulties after taking his fourth loan from the company. He explained that his situation worsened when his pregnant wife required emergency surgery due to a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy, which affected his ability to meet the repayment deadline.
Mr. Ofosu claims he notified the company about his inability to make payment on time but received no response. He further alleges that on December 19, 2025, a group of men reportedly linked to the company entered his home and assaulted him, resulting in injuries, including damage to his left eye.
The incident was reported to the police at the Kasoa New Market Police Station, where a medical report form was issued. However, no arrests have been made so far. Police have confirmed the report and indicated that efforts are ongoing to identify and locate the alleged perpetrators.
Mr. Ofosu also alleges that he has continued to receive threatening and abusive phone calls from individuals he identifies as customer service representatives of the company. In an audio recording circulating online, a voice purportedly linked to the company is heard saying “20 men should have beaten you, not eight.” The authenticity of the recording has not been independently verified.
Attempts to obtain a response from Bills Credit were unsuccessful, as the company declined to comment on the matter.
The incident has generated public concern, particularly in light of a separate viral video that appears to show a woman being assaulted over an alleged debt of GHS 300, also reportedly involving the same company. The circumstances surrounding that video have not been fully confirmed.
Investigations into the alleged assault are ongoing, and authorities have urged the public to remain calm as due process is followed.
