Former Vice President and leading member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has continued his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region with stops in Sekyere Kumawu, Afigya Kwabre, and Offinso North.
Addressing party supporters, Dr. Bawumia responded to criticisms following the 2024 elections. He said extensive research conducted after the polls showed that the NPP’s loss was not due to his leadership. Instead, he blamed challenges such as the fight against illegal mining, neglect of the party’s grassroots, and what he called “excessive spending without accountability.”

Dr. Bawumia stressed that these issues slowed down development and weakened the party’s connection with ordinary voters, leading to their defeat.
He also cautioned former appointees, CEOs, MMDCEs, and ex-MPs to stop spreading misinformation and accept the findings of the post-election research.
Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour continues across the Ashanti Region as he seeks to strengthen party unity and re-energize the grassroots ahead of the 2028 general elections.
